Patriots Take Down Oaks, 6-2
|
The exploits of designated hitter Terry Armstrong, who is tied for 10th in the PL in doubles with 16, helped the Boston Patriots defeat the Oakland Oaks, 6-2. Armstrong was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Boston reliever Pancho Padilla got the win, raising his record to 2-2. José Caballero was tagged with the loss. At 54-35, Boston is in first place in the Division I.
Armstrong had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Júlio Saldaña, he banged a grand slam home run to center, giving the Patriots a 6-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Armstrong.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Armstrong told the Boston Bulletin.
