Nobles Sneak Past Reserves, 2-1
|
The Athletic Club KC Reserves got a sterling performance from pitcher Tim Ritchie, but the Nobles still prevailed, 2-1. Ritchie was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball. Pancho Padilla picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Alfonso Álvarez was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Nobles improved to 40-32.
Lloyd Alberink was 1-2 with a walk for Bakersfield. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. That's when he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Alfonso Álvarez. It was his 33rd RBI of the season.
Alberink said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
