Rails Deal Grasshoppers 5-2 Setback
|
Richland rode a good effort from starter Maxwell Simon to beat the San Bernardino Grasshoppers at Field of the Grasshoppers. The final score was 5-2. Simon went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-5. Richland goes to 67-29. The win puts them 10 games up in their division.
Flexing his muscles for Richland was Vicente Cruz. The center fielder had a solo home run in the top of the fourth for the Rails. It put his team ahead, 2-1, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Cruz went 1 for 4 with a home run.
"I really like what we did out there today," Cruz said after the game.
