Farmers Knock Off San Bernardino at Farmers Field
|
The Lancaster Farmers eeked out a 6-3 win versus the San Bernardino Grasshoppers at Farmers Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Paco Peña, who captured player of the game honors. Peña picked up the win for Lancaster, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 8-2. At 40-34, the Farmers find themselves in 4th place in the Menard's AA.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the second, with the game tied, António Mendoza was at the plate when Lancaster scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Farmers to go in front, 3-1.
"I really like what we did out there today," Mendoza said after the game.
