Rails Defeat Polar Bears, 7-3
|
Benefiting from the performance of Vicente Cruz, the Richland Rails defeated the Billings Polar Bears, 7-3. Cruz went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Rails. Scott Mildren, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 6-3. Richland now sits in first place in the Menard's AA at 41-24.
Richland grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Cruz, who is tied for 8th in the 3AA in total bases with 98, hit a solo home run. His 4th home run put the Rails out in front, 4-3.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Cruz told reporters after the game.
