Shooters Edge Richland in Pitching Duel
|
Springfield got an elite performance from starting pitcher Ryan Peterson in taking a 1-0 decision over the Richland Rails. Peterson, now 7-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. At 32-21, the Shooters are currently second in the Menard's AA.
Springfield took advantage of an error in the top of the fifth inning. The game was tied, 0-0, when John Ennis hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Springfield in front, 1-0.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Peterson.
