Herons Stymie Billings, Take 8-1 Win
|
The Glendale Herons knocked off the Billings Polar Bears, 8-1, at Heron Field. Luis Trevino, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Glendale won. The designated hitter was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. José Ortíz, who went 7.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 5-4. This win makes it 1 in a row for Glendale.
Raúl Duarte came through for Glendale when he hit a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. With a runner on 1st, he hit a full count fastball to right field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Alfonso Rivera.
