San Bernardino Wins, Cole goes 4-for-4
|
The San Bernardino Grasshoppers downed the Virginia Beach Deuces, 8-6, at Virginia Beach Grounds. The Grasshoppers were led by Brandon Cole, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. San Bernardino reliever Ricardo Roquette was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Jim Unknown took the loss. Picking up the save was Héctor Valentín, his 8th.
In the top of the 4th, San Bernardino took the lead on a 2-run double by Zuberi Mccray. At the time, the Grasshoppers were trailing 6-5, but Mccray's hit with two outs against Virginia Beach pitcher Jim Unknown put them in front, 7-6.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Mccray.
The 6th-place Grasshoppers now have a win-loss record of 24-25.
