Richland turned a good effort from starter Maxwell Simon into a win over the Glendale Herons at Rails Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. Jim Unknown picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. José Peña was tagged with the loss. Richland occupies first place in the Menard's AA at 29-16.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Richland trailing 1-0, Jim Unknown hit a fastball from José Peña to right-center for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Rails had a walk-off win.
"Runs were at a premium," said Richland manager Paul Baker.
