Farmers Topple Shooters with Late Rally

The Springfield Shooters wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter Chuck Steele, falling 2-1 to the Lancaster Farmers at Springfield Stadium. The win was credited to Sergio Cruz in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Del Lamb took the loss. The win puts the Farmers at 19-19, while the Shooters drop to 21-17.
Late in the game, pinch hitter Albert Díaz had a big at-bat for Lancaster. In the top of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring single off Del Lamb. The play gave the Farmers a 2-1 lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Lancaster Farmers manager Jack Barnes, "I like our chances."
