Ft. Polk South got a terrific game from center fielder David Phipps. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to San Bernardino, 6-4. Phipps was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. The winner was Peter Hall, who threw 95 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. Héctor Valentín earned the save, his 4th, for the Grasshoppers.
Also making an impact was second baseman José Urruticodez, who drilled a 2-run single in the bottom of the second for San Bernardino. For the game, Urruticodez went 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Urruticodez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
San Bernardino is 9th in the Menard's AA with a record of 17-21.
