Grey Wolves Get One-Run Win at Boston
|
Fans who gathered at Dunkin Donuts Park saw a good contest between the Vancouver Grey Wolves and Boston Patriots.
The Grey Wolves had to overcome a fine performance from Boston pitcher Jorge Aguirre to grab a 2-1 win at Dunkin Donuts Park. Aguirre went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Raúl Areola got the win, improving to 9-4. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 3.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fourth, with the game tied, Tony Farquharson was at the plate when Vancouver scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Grey Wolves to go in front, 1-0.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Vancouver skipper David Krause. "I can't complain."
Vancouver, at 42-31, occupies third place in the Division I.
