Nationals Finish Off Sonics in 12
|
Atlantic City pitcher Chris Burgess gave the Nationals all they could handle, but in the end, Ottawa left Nationals Park with a 7-6 win. Burgess allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits over 5.1 innings. The winner was Ottawa reliever Ralph Ogstoun, now 1-1. The loser was Jim Unknown. Ottawa has 3 straight wins, Atlantic City 3 straight losses.
Dan Curtis was a key contributor to the win for the Nationals. In the bottom of the 12th with no one out, the light-hitting left fielder stroked a triple to left. He went 2-3 with a triple, while scoring 2 times.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Rob Henry, the Ottawa skipper.
