Polar Bears Turn Back Ft. Polk South, 9-2
|
Billings beat Ft. Polk South, 9-2. The win in part was due to left fielder Carlos Schultz, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Preston Vick, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 1-1. Losses have been few and far between for the Thunder Hawks, who are now 9-4.
Schultz came through with some timely hitting for Billings. With the score 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, Schultz hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was his 12th hit of the season -- and a big reason the Polar Bears managed to win.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Schultz told the Billings News. "It's as simple as that."
