Thackston has 3 hit night as Nationals Squeeze Past Westwood
Both teams had their chances, but the Ottawa Nationals eventually prevailed at Nationals Park.

The Ottawa Nationals downed the Westwood Sixshooters, 12-7, at Nationals Park. Eric Thackston led the way, going 3-for-4 for Ottawa. Bob Reece got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings.

Thackston came through with some timely hitting for Ottawa. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the first and one down, Thackston hit a 1-1 fastball for a bases-clearing double. It was his 4th double of the season -- and a big reason the Nationals managed to win.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Thackston, "but we got it done."

With the loss, Westwood drops to 5-5.
