Tight Tilt Goes to Red Knights, 4-3
|
Capital District beat Thunder Bay at Capital Grounds, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Sergio Ortíz, who earned player of the game honors. He was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The save went to Miguel Toro, his 18th this season. Capital District now sits at 42-59, while Thunder Bay falls to 55-46.
Ortíz came through with some timely hitting for Capital District. With the score 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, Ortíz hit a 2-2 changeup for a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season -- and a big reason the Red Knights managed to win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Ortíz.
