Whalers Hang 5-4 Loss on Hawks
|
Ballpark of Hartford was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Hartford Whalers and the Chicago Hawks.
The Hartford Whalers picked up a win at Ballpark of Hartford, knocking off the Chicago Hawks, 5-4. Starting pitcher Christian Patrick, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Patrick got the win, improving to 6-11. He allowed 8 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. Patrick allowed 4 earned runs. Ernest White got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Tied up with the Hawks in the bottom of the sixth, the Whalers got a boost from shortstop Joe Craig. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Craig saw a 2-0 cutter from Teddy Perkins and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Hartford on top, 5-4.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Anthony Yaghmour. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
Chicago now has a 5-game losing streak.
