The Las Vegas Flamingos faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher José Guzmán, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hawks Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Guzmán went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Las Vegas reliever Ron Yarbrough was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Joaquín Rodríguez took the loss for Chicago. Enrique García recorded his 22nd save for Las Vegas.
The most important at-bat for Las Vegas came in the top of the ninth inning, when third baseman Sake van Arem stroked a 0-1 cutter to center for a 2-run triple, putting Las Vegas up, 3-2.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," van Arem told the Las Vegas Herald.
The Flamingos, at 50-42, sit in third place in the Division III.
