Nuggets Fall Short at Kingston Township
|
Rocky Mountain wasted a solid 7.1-inning effort from starting pitcher Reynaldo Ortíz, losing to Kingston Township, 1-0, at Cloverdale Legion Park. Kingston Township reliever Jesús Prieto picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kaluka Wene took the loss. Toshiro Saikawa closed the door for Kingston Township, picking up his 18th save of the year.
Late in the game, pinch hitter Jim Scott had a big at-bat for Kingston Township. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring single off Kaluka Wene. The play gave the Legion a 1-0 lead.
Scott called the triumph "a good team win."
The Legion raised their record to 43-40.
