Hawks Edge Past Thunder Bay, 7-6
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Chicago Hawks eventually prevailed at Great Northern Field.
The Chicago Hawks had to overcome a big game from Thunder Bay right fielder Robert O'Connor to leave Great Northern Field with a 7-6 victory. O'Connor was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Chicago reliever Stuart Lee picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Andrés Martínez took the loss. Shi-lin Li recorded the save for Chicago, his 3rd of the season.
Chicago took control in the top of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Raúl Aguirre hit a run-scoring single to make it 7-6, Hawks.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Aguirre, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
With the win, Chicago goes to 28-51, while the Northern Lions BC fall to 43-36.
