The Boston Patriots and Northern Virginia Retrievers provided some drama at Ballpark of Northern Virginia.

The Boston Patriots got a superb performance from pitcher Lúcio Sánchez, but the Retrievers still won the game, 3-2. Sánchez was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The 9th-place Retrievers lifted their record to 24-41.

Northern Virginia took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Brett Callison hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Retrievers fans to their feet.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Callison.
