Bakersfield left fielder Markus Richardson was instrumental in his team's 6-3 win over the Milton Dogfish Head. Richardson went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Nobles. James Scott, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. His record now stands at 2-1. With the win, Bakersfield boosts its record to 6-6.
When the Nobles needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Richardson who delivered. Facing Milton pitcher Juan Reyes the bottom of the fourth with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Richardson hit his 1st home run of the year. It made the score 5-0.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Richardson told the Bakersfield Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
