The Oakland Oaks began the 2025 season with a convincing 11-0 win over the Boston Patriots at Oakland Coliseum. Most impressive was Oakland catcher Edwin Church, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Matt Webber earned the win for Oakland. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing no earned runs on 2 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0.

Early in the game, designated hitter Jorge Vargas had a 2-run home run for Oakland. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Oaks on top, 2-0.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Church said.
