Hotspur Reserves Topple Timber Hawks with Late Rally
|
The Hotspur Reserves had to overcome a good performance from Augusta pitcher Santiago Romo to claim a 8-5 win at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Romo went 7 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. Phoenix reliever Rewa Malaki picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Brian Wheeler shouldered the loss. Adam Garrison closed the game out for Phoenix, earning his 36th save.
A defensive miscue in the top of the ninth could have cost the Hotspur Reserves. With Phoenix leading 6-5, Satoshi Terada reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. In the end, Phoenix was still able to win the ballgame.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Phoenix manager Arturo Vega.
The Hotspur Reserves, now 68-33, have won 6 in a row.
