Great Lakers Prove Rude Guests, Win 5-1 at Alloway
|
The Alloway Halberds and Pure Michigan Great Lakers met at Ballpark of Alloway to settle a score.
The Pure Michigan Great Lakers did just enough to sneak past the Alloway Halberds, 5-1, at Ballpark of Alloway. Pure Michigan pitcher Fernando González earned player of the game honors. González, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Jim Unknown converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Cumana, Venezuela-born César Muńóz came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Great Lakers trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Pure Michigan on top.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said González.
The Great Lakers now have a record of 44-53 with the win over Alloway.
