Hotspur Reserves Prevail, 7-4, Over Gryfindor
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves grabbed a 7-4 win over the Gryfindor Braves at Cayuse Ballpark. Phoenix third baseman Alex Niemann went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks to earn player of the game honors. Adam Garrison recorded his 34th save for Phoenix. The first-place Hotspur Reserves have a one-game lead in their division.
The Phoenix triumph was a team effort. It included several important contributors, Júlio Mateo not least among them. In the top of the seventh, the Phoenix catcher came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 5-3 lead.
Mateo said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
