Cornelius Taitt was instrumental in his team's 8-3 triumph over the Naperville Battlekings. The center fielder went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Tremont Doubledays. Jim Unknown got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Tremont now has a 3-game win streak.
Tremont grabbed control in the top of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, Fred Burt delivered a 2-run single, to make it 4-2 in favor of the Doubledays.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Burt told the Tremont Daily.
