Shawn Williams was superb against Tortolita. Williams, the two overall pick in the 2021 draft, had a cutter that was virtually unhittable at times. Williams was the winning pitcher and moves to 8-7. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 5 walks. With the win, the BC improved to 45-43.
Rodney Hanna was a key contributor to the win for the BC. In the top of the fourth with one out, the light-hitting shortstop stroked a single to right. He was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We were in it," said Tortolita manager Juan López. "We just didn't score enough runs."
