Great Lakers Rally For Late Win Over Timber Hawks
|
The Pure Michigan Great Lakers downed the Augusta Timber Hawks, 5-4, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The Great Lakers were led by Ramiro Gonzáles, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. The winner was Javier Castillo, who threw 103 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits. The Great Lakers now own a record of 35-44.
The most important at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Ben Fleming threw a 2-2 curveball to Gonzáles, which he hit to left for a run-scoring single. It put Pure Michigan in front, 5-4.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Gonzáles.
