Timber Hawks Stick Drummers with 10-2 Loss
|
The exploits of center fielder Luis Moreno, who is tied for 4th in the SAAA in triples with 3, helped the Augusta Timber Hawks defeat the Tortolita Drummers, 10-2. Moreno went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Augusta reliever Arnold Berry was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Gustavo Pérez took the loss. The 9th-place Timber Hawks are now 23-42, the Drummers 31-34.
Moreno came through with some timely hitting for Augusta. With the score 1-0 in the top of the first and two down, Moreno hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was his 53rd hit of the season -- and a big reason the Timber Hawks managed to win.
"We did a lot of things right," said Moreno.
