Retrievers Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Northern Virginia starter Aurelio López pitched effectively against the Buckhead Bowties at Buckhead Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Natalino Golaio, credited with the win, is now 4-4. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. At 19-37, Northern Virginia is in last place in the Division I.
Brett Callison was 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Northern Virginia. The 24-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 11th. That's when he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Chris Rogers. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister.
