Victory Over Hotspur Reserves Takes Gryfindor to 26-10
|
The Gryfindor Braves topped the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 8-5, with Emílio Gonzáles playing a big role. Gonzáles was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Braves in the win. Kenny Koehler got the win, improving to 6-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 5. The Braves, at 26-10, lead by one game in their division.
With Gryfindor trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, the Braves fortunes got a boost when catcher Bob McNeil turned a 2-2 changeup from Santiago Alonza into his 3rd home run of the season. The hit scored 2 and put Gryfindor up, 3-2.
In postgame comments, Gonzáles told the Gryfindor Chronicle: "Do people still doubt I give 100%?"
