Big Day at the Plate for Pérez Not Enough
|
Ellenburg got a terrific game from designated hitter Pedro Pérez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Tortolita, 5-4. Pérez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Asher Spivey picked up the save for Tortolita, his 1st of the year. Tortolita is now 11-20, Ellenburg 14-17.
Tortolita grabbed control in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Rick Harrison delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 5-4 in favor of the Drummers.
In postgame remarks, Harrison said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
