Fighting Dachsunds Fall to .500 After Loss to Timber Hawks
|
Augusta designated hitter Bob Sargent made his presence felt in the 7-4 Timber Hawks triumph over the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds. Sargent went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times. Darren Garland closed it out for his 4th save. Augusta is 9-15 and Ellenburg, with the loss, 12-12.
In the bottom of the 4th, Augusta took the lead on a 2-run single by Jaime Cruz. At the time, the Timber Hawks were trailing 3-2, but Cruz's hit with two outs against Ellenburg pitcher Luis Mata put them in front, 4-3.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Augusta Timber Hawks manager Elvis Helton. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
