Great Lakers Get One-Run Win at Houston
|
Houston got a terrific performance from first baseman Alfredo Rivera, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pure Michigan Great Lakers. Pure Michigan won the Houston Park contest, 5-4. Rivera was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Martín Flores got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 7.1 innings. José Ortíz earned the save for Pure Michigan, his 5th of the year.
In the top of the sixth, Pure Michigan right fielder César Muńóz had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs, Muńóz stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 5-3, Pure Michigan. For the game, he was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It feels good to get that win," said Muńóz. "Now it's on to the next one."
Pure Michigan now sits in 5th place in the Silver AAA at 12-11.
