Tight Tilt Goes to Hotspur Reserves, 4-3
|
Phoenix starter Santiago Alonza had a strong outing against the Alloway Halberds at Thunderbirds Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Phoenix reliever Pat McCormick picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jim Unknown absorbed the loss. Craig Gasnier earned the save, his 1st, for the Hotspur Reserves.
Phoenix took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Júlio Mateo hit a clutch solo home run to bring Hotspur Reserves fans to their feet.
"I liked his command," said Phoenix manager Arturo Vega. "Santiago was throwing strikes."
At 15-6, Phoenix is in second place in the Silver AAA.
