Great Lakers Sneak Past Timber Hawks, 4-3

Pure Michigan first baseman Mario Cruz was a significant contributor in his team's 4-3 triumph over the Augusta Timber Hawks. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Pure Michigan. Pure Michigan reliever José Guerrero was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Darren Garland took the loss for Augusta. The Great Lakers, with only their 2nd win in 8 games, have not had much to write home about in 2025.
The most important at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Darren Garland threw a first pitch fastball to Cruz, which he hit to center for a run-scoring single. It put Pure Michigan in front, 4-3.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Cruz told the Pure Michigan Daily News.
