Piranhas Score Late, Top Oaks, 9-8
|
The Panama City Piranhas and Oakland Oaks obliged those fans who came to Oakland Coliseum looking for a good time.
Mal Wadley did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Oakland Oaks from losing, 9-8, to the Panama City Piranhas at Oakland Coliseum. Wadley was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Panama City reliever Tobías Pérez got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Júlio Saldaña was tagged with the loss. Juan Pérez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
Herman Hayes, who is tied for 9th in the PL in triples with 2, aided the Panama City cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Hayes said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."
The 8th-place Piranhas improved to 20-30.
