The D.C. Divided picked up a win at Buckhead Grounds, knocking off the Buckhead Bowties, 4-3. Starting pitcher Leslie Brooks, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Brooks went 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-1. Gabriel Hidalgo picked up the save, his 13th.
In the top of the third, D.C. center fielder Charles Mathes had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and one out, Mathes stroked a 2-run home run to right. It made the score 2-0, D.C.. For the game, he was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Mathes.
The Buckhead losing streak has now reached 4 games.
