Ricochets Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Salem Misfits and Myrtle Beach Mermen.
Myrtle Beach rode a fine outing from starter Dan Crowder to victory over the Salem Misfits at Ricochets Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. Crowder got the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Crowder allowed 2 earned runs. Francisco Gonsáles earned the save for Myrtle Beach, his 25th.
The Mermen took the lead in the top of the seventh when David Vázquez banged a two-out single. Myrtle Beach had been trailing 2-1, but Vázquez hit a 2-2 fastball from Marv Bradford for a 2-run single.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Vázquez told the Myrtle Beach Gazette.
Myrtle Beach currently is in second place in the Silver AA at 49-32.
