With right fielder Roberto Veliz leading the charge, the Myrtle Beach Mermen defeated the Salem Misfits, 11-5, at Ricochets Ballpark. Veliz, who was drafted in the two round of the 2024 draft, went 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Shuntavyious Primes-Willes earned the win for Myrtle Beach. He lasted 8.2 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-1. Veliz came through with some timely hitting for Myrtle Beach. With the score 1-0 in the top of the first and one down, Veliz hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run triple. It was his 4th triple of the season -- and a big reason the Mermen managed to win.
