Hot N Readys Suffer 5-3 Setback
Myrtle Beach starter Dan Crowder had a strong outing against the Little Caesars Hot N Readys at Tennille Grounds. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Crowder was the winning pitcher and moves to 2-1. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Luis Vega earned the save for Myrtle Beach, his 2nd of the year.

Santiago, Dominican Republic-born Sergio Rodríguez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st and the Mermen trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run to right to put Myrtle Beach on top.

Rodríguez told local reporters: "We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one. We've got to keep it going."

With the win, Myrtle Beach has a record of 20-16. Little Caesars falls to 17-19.
