Hot N Readys Pull Back to .500 with Win over Mermen
|
Myrtle Beach third baseman Jimmy Dawson was sensational. He was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Little Caesars beat the Mermen, 8-4. Dawson was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Hot N Readys move to 17-17 with the win, while the Mermen drop to 18-16.
In the top of the 5th, the Hot N Readys grabbed the lead on a two-out home run by Mike Barton. Little Caesars at the time was trailing 4-3, but Barton's 2-run home run off Andrés Quezada put his team in front.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Myrtle Beach manager Barry Embling. "But we decided not to take it."
