Smoke Take Down Thundercats, 5-4
|
Atlanta left fielder Albert Morán played a vital role in his team's 5-4 triumph over Richardson City. He went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times for Atlanta. Atlanta reliever Fred Pitts was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Cordell Wilson. The Smoke now have a record of 22-19.
Tied up with the Thundercats in the bottom of the seventh, the Smoke got a boost from third baseman Bartolo Morales. With a runner on 2nd, Morales saw a 2-0 cutter from Cordell Wilson and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Atlanta on top, 5-4.
"We take it day by day here," said Morales, "and today was a good one for us."
