Big Day at the Plate for Gardner Not Enough
The D.C. Divided and Panama City Piranhas provided some drama at Washington Stadium.

The Panama City Piranhas outlasted Mike Gardner and the D.C. Divided, 8-7. Gardner was impressive in the loss. The D.C. right fielder was 2-2 with 2 home runs, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Juan Pérez picked up the save for Panama City, his 6th of the year.

Panama City took a 8-5 lead on Brad Perry's 33rd hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Perry hit in the top of the eighth, left D.C. pitcher José Alaniz shaking his head.

In postgame comments to the Panama City Citizen, Perry said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

With the win over D.C., the Piranhas improved to 13-27.
