Behind a solid performance from catcher Gary Chalmers, the Westwood Sixshooters defeated the Atlantic City Sonics, 6-5. Chalmers was 2-5 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Sixshooters. Westwood reliever Kevin Samuels picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ted Wright took the loss. Picking up the save was Alfredo Hernández, his 2nd.

The most important at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Ted Wright threw a 3-1 fastball to Chalmers, which he hit to right-center for a run-scoring single. It put Westwood in front, 6-5.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Westwood manager William Franklin.

With the win, Westwood boosts its record to 2-0.
