Grey Wolves Pin 10-5 Loss on Retrievers
|
Vancouver third baseman Alfredo Méndez was instrumental in his team's 10-5 win over the Northern Virginia Retrievers. Méndez went 2-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Grey Wolves. Bill Fletcher picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 1-0. The Grey Wolves raised their record to 2-2.
The Grey Wolves got a big at-bat from Jesús Martínez. For the game, Martínez was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 4th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 4-3 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Martínez told the Vancouver Today.
