Humpbacks Turn Back Santa Barbara, 7-6
The Alaskan Humpbacks topped the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 7-6, with Ray Merrill playing a big role. Merrill went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Humpbacks in the win. Alaskan reliever Fernando Peralta picked up the win, upping his record to 4-5. Roger Garrett absorbed the loss. The Humpbacks saw their record improve to 43-57.

Ron Howard was a key contributor to the win for the Humpbacks. In the bottom of the seventh with one out, the light-hitting pinch hitter stroked a double to left-center. He did the little things right to help the team.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Santa Barbara manager Mark Harrison. "But we decided not to take it."
