|
Benefiting from Martín Méndez's productive game, the Port Royal Disaster downed the Salt Lake City Buzz, 7-3. Méndez was 1-2 with a double and 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Disaster. Bryan Boyd got the win, improving to 5-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 0. With the win over Salt Lake City, the Disaster improved to 40-43.
It could have been a different outcome for Port Royal, had it not been for Manuel Becerra, the speedster . Becerra contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Port Royal up, 6-3.
Salt Lake City manager Pedro Orozco said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
