"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Barber.
Bloomington had no answer for Alaskan Humpbacks starter Gary Barber, who flummoxed Longnecks hitters as the Humpbacks cruised to a 7-1 victory. Barber went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 5, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. George Ferguson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Also producing for Alaskan was catcher Néstor Berino, who stroked a 2-run triple in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Berino was 2-4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Barber.
The Humpbacks, at 37-46, sit in 8th place in the Menard's AAA.
